EXPERIENCE

All my poses were learned from experienced educators in the photography community. Since 2017, I've photographed over 100 local newborns. I use professional camera and lighting equipment, and belong to associations - National Association of Professional Child Photographers and Professional Photographers of America - which hold their members to strict ethical and professional standards.

SAFETY

Your baby's safety and comfort take top priority during our session. I've completed safety coursework related to working with newborns in the studio. While all my poses are safe, I never promise specific shots, as I don't force babies into any positions they don't seem comfortable in. Any unsupported pose is done with an assistant present or in Photoshop.

I take pains to keep your little one healthy, as well.  I always use hand sanitizer before touching your newborn. I wash wraps and backdrops in gentle, fragrance free detergent.  I also have a current Tdap booster vaccination and negative TB test.

SCHEDULING

I only take on a certain number of clients each month, based on due date. As babies set their own arrival schedule, this allows me the flexibility to get babies into the studio if they are born earlier or later than planned. Your session will be reserved once I receive your signed session agreement and deposit of $50. We'll determine the actual date and time of the photo shoot once baby arrives, but your reservation guarantees my availability within the first two weeks following baby's arrival.

PAYMENT

A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to book your session. The remaining balance of your session is due at the time of your baby's session and must be paid in full before I can begin work editing your images. I accept all major credit/debit cards, cash, PayPal, and Venmo.

CLOTHING AND PROPS

I have a studio filled with wraps, hats, tie-back headbands, and props for your little one in a range of colors. I typically cannot accommodate outside props or outfits, but I make exceptions for special heirlooms or sentimental objects or outfits. If you have one of these you would like to include in your session, please let me know when you fill out your newborn session questionnaire.

If you plan to take photos with your new baby, solids and neutral-colored clothing works best.

IMAGES

Your online gallery will be available to you via an email link 2-3 weeks after your session. You will have two weeks to make image selections. Files may be downloaded directly from the gallery.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN SESSION?

The best time to book your session is during your pregnancy's second or third trimester. I will ask you to contact me after baby is born and we will determine the date and time of the photo shoot.

WHERE DOES THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?

All newborn sessions take place in my Oceanside studio, ideally within the first 2-3 weeks after baby's birth. Sorry, but I am not offering in-home sessions at this time.

WHAT IF BABY ARRIVES EARLY / LATE / NEEDS EXTENDED TIME IN HOSPITAL?

Don't worry. Your signed session agreement guarantees my availability within the two week window following your baby's birth, whenever that may be. If baby requires a longer hospital stay, we'll schedule for a time once he/she is happily settled at home.

I FORGOT TO BOOK EARLY / MY BABY IS ALREADY A FEW WEEKS OLD. IS IT TOO LATE TO HAVE PHOTOS TAKEN OF MY NEWBORN?

It's NOT too late. While I can't promise I'll get all those curled-up, sleepy shots with older babies (they tend to be more alert and less bendy after the first few weeks) we can still take gorgeous photos of your newborn or young infant, especially if your baby enjoys being swaddled. I hate the idea of a family going without these photos in this special time of life! Please contact me directly and we'll work something out.

WILL MY PHOTOS BE POSTED ONLINE?

Only with your permission. I love sharing a few images from client sessions on my social media accounts or my website a few days after sessions. It gives prospective clients (like you!) a look at the work I'm doing, and  it allows parents to have a "sneak peek" of their baby's images. I post images using baby's first name only - or without naming baby at all. If you would not like for your baby's images to be posted online, you can let me know by checking "PLEASE DO NOT SHARE MY IMAGES"  when you fill out your newborn session questionnaire.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

Only what you and your baby may need to be comfortable for a two hour photo session. If your newborn takes a pacifier, please bring it along.

WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO LOCATED?

My studio is a dedicated space attached to my Oceanside home. It is located in Arrowood, close to the Vandegrift/Douglas intersection. It is a professional space with an attached bathroom, separate from our living quarters. I've tried to design a studio space that is comfortable for babies AND their parents.
